Autumn Activities You Don't Want To Miss!

As fall nears its end, make the most of these harvest happenings before the seasons change! Cozy up for a cup of cider, explore the fall colors outdoors, get creative with your costume for this year’s best harvest parties, and of course—get spooked! Read on for details.

Monday - Saturday, 9am-6pm through Halloween; free admission
Apple picking at Millers Apple Hill is an experience you won't want to miss. After you stock up on cider and apples at the orchard, let your kids roam Pumpkin Land. The play area has two hay mazes, scarecrows, farm animals and plenty of pumpkins.

Saturdays & Sundays through the end of October, 12-5pm; $6.00
Take a weekend hay ride to pick a pumpkin from Fitch’s Farm Market.

October 23 & October 24 at the Carlisle Visitor Center12-5pm; Corn maze $1 per person
Experience fall with free wagon rides pulled by draft horses, then follow up on an adventurous walk through the adjacent corn maze! 

Fridays & Saturdays, 5-10pm through Oct. 30 at Carlisle Visitor Center; free admission, fee for food & games  
Haunted hike, train ride, food, games live music and magic. 

October 23, 10am-5pm & October 24, 12-5pm
Hear Bonnie Brae Elk Farm’s bull elk haunting bugle and take a wagon ride to see them up close. Stay warm with a cup of elk chili.

October 30 from 8am-4pm at Jamie’s Flea Market
Trick or Treat for children under 12 and scavenger hunt for adults. 

October 22 & October 23, 10am-5pm; Sunday, October 24, 12-5pm

Race begins at 8:00am on October 24 
Support the Murray Ridge Levy by running or walking the course along the scenic Inland Trail of Lorain County Metro Parks, beginning at Murray Ridge School.

November 21 at 5:30pm, Wellington Reservation
Search nature for the sounds and sights of fall under the full moon light.

October 23, 12pm at Vermilion Valley Vineyards; call to make your $10 reservation
Spend the day at Schoepfle Gardens! Local professor, David Benzing will guide the field trip and oversee on-site exercises, such as “green pruning” and grape harvesting and processing. Experience the colors and splendors of fall. Lunch included.

Experience Halloween fun, great wine, lasagna dinner from Lorenzo's, and live music by Acoustic Junkies starting at 7pm. View the Halloween night sky with telescope.                                                                   

Eerie Experiences
October 30 at Oberlin Inn; call to reserve, $79 per person
Sleuths and spooks come together for a fun-filled Murder Mystery dinner. Package includes Superior overnight accommodations, Lavish Buffet with Prime Rib and Chicken Picatta. Costumes recommended!

October 30, 7-9pm or 9:30-11:30pm; $25 per adult
Hunt for ghosts with a team of experts from the Ohio Researchers of Banded Spirits (ORBS) at the Moore House Museum.  There will be guided tours of Charleston Cemetery, weather permitting.  Space limited. Call to reserve tickets at 440.670.6624 or 440.245.2563.

Vermilion's Old Haunted State Street School presents "Terror in the Field."  Watch every eerie step you take in this exciting and scary "haunted" corn maze.

Fridays & Saturdays 7pm-12am, Sundays 7-10pm through Oct 31
Escape the nationally ranked indoor haunted house, which has doubled in size for 2010. Discretion is advised for children under 10.
